Saudi Arabia resume format: Arabic and English guide
Build a Saudi Arabia resume in Arabic or English with honest evidence, clear sections, and exact limits on what HRDF and Subol guidance supports.
A Saudi Arabia resume is not one government form. It is an evidence-based application document for a specific employer, and it can be written in Arabic or English. HRDF's Subol material supports both languages and describes a workflow covering personal information, education, certificates, work experience, and PDF or Word export.
That does not turn one section order, page count, photograph choice, or commercial template into a national rule. The vacancy and employer portal remain the instructions for the real application.
1. Choose Arabic or English from the job
Start with the language of the vacancy. An English Riyadh vacancy may need an English en-SA resume. An Arabic role may be better served by an Arabic ar-SA document. Site language and document language are separate choices.
When you maintain both versions, keep these facts aligned:
- employer and official organization names;
- actual job title and seniority;
- Gregorian dates;
- numbers and their sources;
- qualifications and certificates;
- tools and language levels.
Rewrite naturally rather than translating sentence by sentence.
2. Use a readable structure
A conservative starting order is:
- name and professional contact details;
- targeted professional summary;
- reverse-chronological experience;
- education;
- skills and languages;
- relevant certificates or projects.
This is a product recommendation, not an HRDF-mandated sequence. A graduate may move education and projects above limited experience. A researcher may need publications.
3. Replace responsibility labels with evidence
Use the second style only when each action is true. Add a percentage, volume, budget, or team size only when you have a source and can explain your contribution.
4. Keep personal fields under your control
Do not automatically add a photograph, birth date, nationality, marital status, religion, national ID, passport number, full address, salary, or residence status. The reviewed sources do not prove these fields are required in every Saudi private-sector CV.
An application portal may ask for information separately. A portal field is not automatically a recommendation to place the same information in a widely shared PDF.
5. Choose a file that can be tested
Use real text, familiar headings, and a single-column layout when extraction is the priority. We default to A4 and Gregorian dates for Saudi documents unless the employer says otherwise. These defaults improve consistency; they are not legal or government-approved requirements.
For Arabic, keep paragraphs RTL and isolate email addresses, URLs, numbers, and Latin tool names. For English, keep the document LTR even when it contains Arabic names.
Read the country-by-country resume format guide and the PDF versus Word ATS guide before sending the final file.
Product recommendation and limits
Boost My Resume recommends A4, clear headings, reverse chronology, genuine achievement evidence, and a tested single-column option. These are conservative defaults, not an official Saudi format, legal requirement, candidate ranking, or promise of selection.
Sources and review status
- The HRDF Subol user guide describes Arabic/English resume building, core information stages, and PDF/Word export.
- The HRDF Irshad smart CV tool emphasizes abilities, professional experience, labour-market fit, and a target career path.
- Neither source establishes a universal page count, photograph requirement, or approval of Boost My Resume. Reviewed 29 August 2026; independent Saudi recruiter review of informal preferences remains pending.
Common questions
Is there one official Saudi Arabia resume format?
The HRDF sources reviewed here do not establish one mandatory private-sector template. Subol supports Arabic and English resumes and organizes personal details, education, certificates, and experience before PDF or Word export.
Should a Saudi resume be in Arabic or English?
Follow the vacancy, employer, portal, and working language. Both are first-class Saudi paths, and one candidate can keep separate Arabic and English versions with identical facts.
How long should a Saudi CV be?
The reviewed official sources do not set a universal page count. Our conservative product default is one page for limited experience and two when genuine evidence needs the space.
Should I send PDF or Word?
Follow the requested extension first. Subol supports PDF and Word export, but each employer portal may set its own type and size rules. Test search, copy, direction, and pagination in the final file.
