Quick answer

Check your resume ATS readability score, understand each finding and fix the document without treating the result as a recruiter ranking.

An ATS resume score is useful only when you read what it measures. Boost My Resume checks document readability and common parsing risks. It does not rank you against other candidates and cannot predict whether a recruiter will respond.

1. Upload the exact file you plan to send

Use the final PDF or Word file, not an older draft. That lets the check inspect the same text and structure an applicant tracking system is likely to receive.

2. Read the score as readability

The score summarizes checks such as selectable text, section structure, contact information and layout signals. A high result means the file conforms well to those checks. It does not mean you are in a top percentile or that the resume matches a particular role.

3. Open the findings in priority order

Start with issues that can hide or scramble information, then review clarity and presentation. Each finding should tell you what was observed and what you can do next. Do not add a missing skill merely to change a score.

Use the evidence under the score. Fix concrete document problems before cosmetic details.

4. Fix the file and check again

Open the free editor from the report, make the relevant changes and export a new base resume. Then rerun the check on that exported file. Comparing the reports confirms whether the document issue was actually resolved.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ATS score a ranking against other candidates?

No. It summarizes readability and document checks. It does not predict a recruiter decision or your rank among applicants.

Do I need to create an account for the ATS report?

No. The complete diagnosis is available without an account.

Does a high readability score mean the resume matches a job?

No. Readability and job relevance are separate. Use the job-match check with a specific posting to measure supported fit.
